Dexter Juan Davis Honored for Excellence in Human Services
Dexter Davis formed a coalition to address adolescent violence in New Jersey
VAUXHALL, NJ, August 31, 2011 /Management PR News/ -- Dexter Juan Davis, Educator, Drug, Alcohol, Family Therapist, and Chief Officer for "U Be Fit" LLC, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in human services.
With 20 years of professional experience, Mr. Davis is noted for his expertise in program coordination and administration, grant writing, management and supervision, and addiction counseling. He lends this varied skill set to "U Be Fit" LLC, an organization of professionals who provide health care services to the community. As an educator, drug, alcohol and family therapist, he is responsible for developing and providing therapeutic care, treatment and rehabilitation to people within the program, counseling, communicating with clients, and supervising groups. Mr. Davis draws on extensive experience helping at-risk youth attain school-related and behavioral objectives. His accomplishments include forming a coalition to address adolescent violence in the cities of Newark, Maplewood/South Orange, and Elizabeth, N.J.
Mr. Davis complements his professional duties with academics. In his final year as scholar-practitioner in the Educational Leadership and Change Doctoral Program at Fielding Graduate University, he is writing his thesis/dissertation, which focuses on exploring how systems and leadership theory may help professionals to design interventions that will reduce criminality among scholar-athletes. Thus, he will soon add an Ed.D. to the Master of Human Services in counseling that he obtained in 2009 as a magna cum laude graduate of Lincoln University. A licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor and a certified alcohol and drug counselor, Mr. Davis completed 270 hours of CADC education through the Professional Training Academy of New Jersey. He is also a nationally and internationally certified criminal justice addiction professional.
During his many years of working with national and community-based nonprofit organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Mr. Davis has progressively acquired supervisory and leadership experience. From 2001 to 2003 he sat on the City Council's Committee on Anti-Gang Violence for the City of Maplewood/South Orange, N.J. Finally, in 2009, his efforts were recognized with a Ronald T. Ramashala Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Community Development and Consumer Advocacy from Lincoln University, an Academic Achievement Certification from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and induction into the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society.
As he moves forward in his career, Mr. Davis aspires to attain a position in academia as either a professor or program director.
