Kent Schien Included in Distinguished Registry
Innoventor named 2011 National Prime Contractor by the U.S. Small Business Administration
Saint Louis, MO, July 1, 2011 /Management PR News/ -- Kent Schien, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innoventor Inc. has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in engineering.
Mr. Schien founded Innoventor in the basement of his home in January, 1996. Over the past 14 years, he has acted as the chief strategist for the progressive design and build engineering firm that employs a multi-disciplined team of engineers who support customers in multiple industries. He oversees all operations, creates unique proposal ideas and maintains the company culture.
Mr. Schien, who holds a master's degree in engineering, became involved in his profession after joining the aerospace manufacturer, McDonnell Douglas. He has since been recognized for his excellent work as the 2010 Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year" regional finalist, and received the Missouri Small Business Person of the Year Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2007.
He shares his industry knowledge with the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois, as a board member and key advisor. Kent has been active on the University of Illinois Engineering School's Mechanical and Industrial Board of Directors since 1997. He is the recipient of the 2008 Constituent Leadership Award, he currently serves as the first president emeritus of the MechSE alumni board, was named the "2009 MechSE Distinguished Alumnus," and sits in an advisory role on the "Engineering Board of Visitors" for the College of Engineering's Advisory Board.
Mr. Schien is also dedicated to the community. He is a board member for Easter Seals Missouri and was recently elected to its international board of directors. He is a member of the board of trustees and recently appointed to the commission for the St. Louis Science Center. He is an affiliate of AUSA, and he was elected to the board of Life Skills.ll. He also supports St. Louis Arc.
