Kerri Duncan Prepares Autistic Children to Transition into Traditional Classrooms

Passionate about helping children with disabilities, Dr. Duncan implements specific learning programs

SPRINGFIELD, MO, October 19, 2011 /Management PR News/ -- Kerri Duncan, Owner of Rivendale Institute of Learning, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in special education.

Ten years ago, Dr. Duncan purchased the Rivendale Institute of Learning and began directing the private school for children with disabilities. With prior experience as a special education teacher and as director of the Southwest Missouri Autism Project, she wanted to infuse the school with specific programs for children with autism. According to Dr. Duncan, "special needs students [do not] get the attention they need because of class size." To further help students, she partnered with specialized education services and hired certified teachers. Because of the outstanding education Rivendale provides, most special needs students are able to transition back to a traditional classroom in two or three years.

Dr. Duncan earned an Ed.D. in special education from Nova Southeastern University in 2010, after already obtaining a master's degree from Southwest Missouri State University (1992) and a Bachelor of Arts in education from the University of Central Missouri (1985). She is a board certified behavioral analyst and a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of America. Looking forward, she intends to establish additional schools for children with autism throughout the country.
